Abstract

The study's limitations are a result of the current mathematical education process, which primarily uses unsuitable, monotonous, and non-interactive learning materials. In order to support this emerging learning motivation, the use of educational media becomes one of the most important factors. In this case, the educational media is a video series that has been implemented at SMP Negeri 39 Padang. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is any relationship between the use of instructional videos and student motivation in math class at SMP Negeri 39 Padang. This type of study is kuntitatif, and the researchers use the deskriptif method of study. Data collection tool used by researchers is angket as the primary method for gathering information about students' motivation to learn through video and wawancara as well as documentation as a method of study or research. The sample size in this study is 57 students out of 132 students in grade VII SMP Negeri 39 Padang. The study's findings indicate that, first, students' perceptions of their teachers' performance were significantly (68,73%) higher in the Tinggi category when it came to the variable of using instructional videos. Furthermore, in terms of increasing learning motivation, student perceptions had a high (68.52%) classification score on the learning motivation variable. After this data was analyzed to determine the overall jawaban persentase, a significant persentase result (68,63%) was obtained using the "Tinggi" criterion. This suggests that student perceptions of using instructional videos are quite effective in raising learning motivation.
