Abstract

Based on observations made on Biology class IX at SMP Negeri 40 Padang, the learning process is still ineffective due to the use of instructional media that does not have a positive effect on the learning process which results in low student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Prezi multimedia on student learning outcomes in class IX Biology subjects at SMP Negeri 40 Padang. This research is quantitative in the form of a quasy experiment approach. The population in this study was class IX students of SMP Negeri 40 Padang in the academic year 2019/2020 consisting of 6 classes and the sampling technique was purposive sampling with class IX1 as an experimental class and class IX2 as a control class totaling 28 people each. The data collection techniques used in the study were test results and the data collection tools used were test sheets and student answers. Data were analyzed using the difference test (t-test) which had previously been tested for normality and homogeneity. Based on the results of the study obtained an average value of the experimental group 79.29 higher than the average value of the control group 67.50. Calculation of t-test obtained t-test 4.5499 with t-table for a significance level of 0.05 is 2,000 so t-test is greater than t-table. This means that there are significant differences in student learning outcomes using multimedia Prezi and student learning outcomes using conventional learning (control class). Thus it can be concluded that the use of Prezi multimedia influences student learning outcomes in Biology subjects at SMP Negeri 40 Padang.
