Abstract


The problem in learning is that the teacher does not use interesting learning media and only relies on textbooks so that students feel bored in the learning process. At this time the learning situation which is sometimes online and face-to-face makes students' interest in learning less effective. The development of instructional video media can be a student need in the learning process in order to build interest, student interest in the material taught by the teacher.


This type of research is development research known as Research and Development (R&D), using the Borg and Gall model. The development procedure in this study consisted of five stages, namely: (1) Planning, (2) Initial Product Development, (3) Product Validation, (4) Trial, and (5) Final Product. This research was conducted in Sociology Subject with one main material. The product developed was assessed by one material expert, namely a class XI Sociology teacher at SMA Negeri 8 Padang, two media experts, namely a lecturer in the Department of Curriculum and Educational Technology.


The results of the product validity test of material aspects and media aspects are in the "very valid" category. Furthermore, the product practicality test was conducted on 25 students of class XI at SMA Negeri 8 Padang, the results of the product practicality test based on the trials that had been carried out were in the "very practical" category. The final results of the learning video media in the Sociology Subject of Class XI SMA are valid and practical to use in learning.
