Abstract

Based on the results of observations made at SMP N 1 Batusangkar, it was found that the grade of some VII grade students in science subject had not yet reached the Minimum Point (KKM) that had been set. This is caused by the lack of activeness of students in participating in learning. The conventional learning process that occurs is only one-way. Inquiry learning strategies can be applied by teachers because learning activities fully involve the ability of students to understand the learning. This research uses quantitative methods of Quasy Experiment. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique, class VII3 as an experiment and class VII4 as a control class. The data obtained were analyzed by t test, previously the normality test and homogeneity test were performed. Calculation of t test obtained t count> t table is 2.86> 2.021 at a significance level of α 0.05. The conclusion of this research is Inquiry Learning Strategy significantly influences student learning outcomes in science subjects at SMP N 1 Batusangkar
